Oasis Christian Children’s Home Sorsogon, Philippines DF Issue No. 30 Sept 05
|
|
To provide a safe, nurturing and Christcentered environment for children.
The Mission To offer a home for orphans and those children who have inadequate social and physical provision.
To provide love hope in a secure family environment.
Who are we and how did we start? John and Nilda Cochrane – who have for many years been involved in supporting and helping orphan and poor children in Asia – were visiting Nilda’s home city Sorsogon (600 Kms south of Manila) and had a burden to help the many poor children who have little loving or caring adult support. Most live in inadequate housing with little physical provision, many unable to even attend school or have even basic needs met.
The unavailability and gifting of a large block of land near the centre of the city has meant that the dream of providing for these precious little ones can become a reality.
Planning is underway to provide suitable accommodation for boys and girls, from baby to adolescence age.
How will this happen? By working alongside volunteers from within the Philippines – and with the enthusiastic help and support already offered by the local community and internationally – we can see the lives of children changed one child at a time. There are provisions for housing volunteers from abroad with particular emphasis on short term mission service. When will this happen? It is intended that construction will commerce in early 2006 following the completion of site and access works.
Planning is underway to provide suitable accommodation for boys and girls, from baby to adolescence age.
How can you help? By going, praying and giving. By coming to help with the building stage and by caring for the children. By praying for direction, protection, provision and enabling of this God given vision. By financially supporting the construction and with on going support for the children.
